Choosing Presence Over Perfection: A Soul-Centered Reflection

June 10, 20254 min read

Introduction

Aligning with my soul’s truth meant embarking on a soul-led journey—one that called me to live in the moment and release the grip of perfectionism. Perfection no longer served the path I had chosen. Instead, presence became my default as I leaned into trusting the divine timing of my life.

For much of my life, I had been driven by the pursuit of perfection. My first conscious mystical experience—during the height of my “dark night of the soul”—was seeing the word NOW appear in the void. Even then, I did not fully choose presence over perfection until I began walking the path of Rewriting Life Stories.

“I choose presence over perfection” became the affirmation that gently moved me forward. While perfection had once fuelled my fear, over-analysis, and self-doubt, presence allowed me to breathe, trust, and receive.

Presence nurtures a soul-led journey. It is in the now that I can hear my soul speak. In contrast, perfection nurtures an ego-led journey, where the need for security gives rise to fears and doubts.

I remember how it once took me eight weeks to build my web pages, marketing funnels, and workflows—all in the name of getting them perfect. But when I shifted into presence, those same tasks took just two weeks. Ideas flowed more freely. I could hear the answers I needed. And my work unfolded with greater ease and completion.

The Illusion of Perfection

My quest for perfection disconnected me from my truth, my timing, and my inner peace.

As I dove deeper into self-discovery, I realised that perfectionism was part of my societal and ancestral programming. But the veil began to lift as I released these energetic blocks through inner work, soul realignment, and spiritual clearing.

In both my personal healing and professional journey, choosing presence became the catalyst for rapid growth.

Presence Is Power

Presence has brought deep power to my being and gifted me the inner joy of experiencing life as it is.

Being fully in the moment—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—allowed me to feel the power of my own energy. It awakened the inner knowing that my journey is about embodying the divine in each moment.

To choose presence is a radical act of trust in your soul. It is a deep surrender to the divine timing of the path you were born to walk.

The specific practices that have supported me include:

  • Journaling (especially gratitude and self-reflection)

  • Daily affirmations

  • Intuitive walks in nature

  • Silence and meditation

Flowing from Previous Intentions

  • “I align with my soul’s truth” → True alignment happens only when I’m present to my truth in this moment.

  • “I trust the divine timing of my path” → Real trust arises in the now, not in an ego-driven mental projection.

  • “I release all that no longer serves me” → Releasing perfection is part of the soul’s liberation and a natural result of aligning to truth.

Reflection Question

“How can I bring more presence into my daily life?”
This question invites honest reflection on my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Simple acts like watching my breath or becoming aware of the present moment help anchor me in the now.

Journaling Prompts

Take a few deep breaths. Find stillness. Let your heart lead the way as you reflect on:

  • Where in my life am I chasing perfection at the cost of being present?

  • What does presence feel like to me in this moment?

  • What activities or rituals help me return to the now?

  • What would shift in my life if I prioritised connection over performance?

  • How can I show myself compassion in moments of imperfection?

Bonus Writing Prompts (Flow-On From Previous Weeks)

  • If I aligned with my soul’s truth in this moment, how would I show up differently today?

  • How does trusting divine timing invite me to slow down and be present?

  • What old beliefs about productivity or perfection am I still holding onto?

  • What small practice can I introduce daily to help me live from presence, not pressure?

Integration Practices for the Week

  • Do a daily “presence check-in” using one word to describe how you feel right now.

  • Use breathwork or movement to return to your body.

  • Speak this intention out loud each morning:
“Today, I choose presence over perfection.”

  • Set a reminder on your phone that says:
    “Pause. Breathe. Be here now.”

Closing Invitation

I invite you to take soul-aligned action by embodying this week’s intention.

To support your reflection, I have created a downloadable journal that you can use as a sacred space to explore your journey with presence.
